The smiling, tense, concentrated faces of men and women – artisans, peasants, fishermen, workers, skilled technicians and young riders – welcome visitors to the free-entrance exhibition hosted in the Sala fontana of Palazzo Esposizioni and organized by Azienda Speciale Palaexpo in collaboration with Invitalia - Agenzia Nazionale per l'Attrazione degli Investimenti e lo Sviluppo di Impresa (National Agency for Investment Attraction and Business Development).
Auteur photographs (by Gianni Berengo Gardin, Tano D’Amico and Gabriella Mercadini, among others) and archive video footage, newspaper articles and documents accompany us on a journey through history, art and the world of work from 1945 to the present day. The exhibition testify to the profound changes that have occurred in the wake of the great technological revolutions, leading not only to the launch of new productive and industrial models and to the creation of new jobs (e.g., in the third sector), but also to substantial transformations in the lives of people, in society and in the way work is organized, right up to the challenges of the post-industrial and digital era of the present day.
If Article 1 of the Italian Constitution recalls that Italy is a democratic republic founded on work, it is the passion, commitment, strength and creativity of the single workers that have contributed to the worldwide success of “Made in Italy”, thus promoting Italy’s development and competitiveness.
