Friday in Music at the Vatican Museums

The Vatican Museums are hosting the concert series “Music at Museums” this year: there are eleven musical events offered to a large audience as part of the Friday evening openings (museum closing at 8.00 pm with last entry at 6.00 pm). The concerts, free and included in the cost of the entrance ticket, begin at 6.00 pm in two specific places of the Vatican Museums: the Braccio Nuovo, at the opening and closing of the concert season, and the Gallery of Statues of the Pio Clementino Museum for all the other musical events.

The cultural initiative, born thanks to an idea of ​​the Director of the Vatican Museums Barbara Jatta, involves young talents from Italian Conservatories and International Academies of higher education, allowing them - in collaboration with the National Italian Music Committee (CIDIM) - allowing them to play on a stage unique in terms of visibility and beauty. Performing live among the masterpieces of classical statuary are therefore the best instrumentalists and singers from all over Italy, and in particular from Modena, Imola, Terni, Pinerolo, Sassari, Naples, Castelfranco Veneto and Siena.

Furthermore, the Musical Band of the Vatican Gendarmerie Corp is the protagonist - at the Museum Centre of Castel Gandolfo - of the concert for brass ensemble hosted exceptionally in the Papal Palace, Sunday 29 September at 5.00 pm, on the occasion of the liturgical anniversary of San Michele Arcangelo, patron and protector of the Vatican Gendarmerie Corps.
