La Movida. Spagna 1980-1990

The Museum of Roma in Trastevere hosts the first exhibition in Italy of the Spanish photographer and artist dedicated to the cultural movement of the 80s and its social and political consequences.

The exhibition, curated by Héctor Fouce, tells the story of Spain after 40 years of military dictatorship, which draws its new political structure, democratic and without censorship. At the centre of this new age are the new generations, who give life to the colourful, vital, young, and free image of a country that leaves behind a dark legacy.

On display are more than 60 images that tell how music, photographs, and cinema have been, since the 80s and 90s, the witnesses of a new culture where the word is in the background to sound and image.

With his lens, Trillo does not focus on the music stars but on the concert audience. Openly and with his back to the stage, in his shots, he makes protagonists those who have made musicians and singers the new idols of the masses: the public, aware of being immortalized, tries to show the best of themselves.

La Movida. Spagna 1980-1990 is the first exhibition in a series organized by the Spanish Embassy in Italy, which aims to present this relevant period in the country's recent history through the generation of photographers that emerged in those years.

The exhibition is promoted by Roma Culture, the Capitoline Superintendency for Cultural Heritage, and the Spanish Embassy in Italy.
