Launched in 2019, Blue Planet Economy is the event dedicated to the environment, development, and innovation in the maxi-productive sector of the Blue Economy, the economic model that revolves around the responsible use of the resources of the seas and oceans, a fundamental system for achieving the objectives of the European Green Deal. With its more than 8,000 kilometers of coastline, the Italian peninsula is an ideal observatory: the development of the Blue Economy is central at the national level as well as in the development programs of regional administrations.
The event turns the spotlight on the strategic role of local communities and small and medium-sized enterprises in promoting sustainable practices to preserve and improve the health of marine ecosystems. For the 2025 edition, the Gazometro complex will host two days of conferences, business meetings, in-depth discussions and presentations on policies and strategies in all production sectors and areas impacting the marine and coastal economy. These include energy sources (e.g. offshore wind, “floating solar” or wave energy generation systems), transport, logistics, to coastal tourism systems, from fishing to port activities and shipbuilding.
Blue Planet Economy is therefore divided into several key sectors and involves institutions, associations, SMEs and start-ups, investors, academia and research world, networks and organizations, and publishers. Thanks to the synergy between the industries and sectors involved in the event, visitors have the opportunity to get a complete overview of all the innovations in the field: plants, materials, machines, technologies, innovative products and services.
