The Teatro Brancaccio hosts the evocative musical dedicated to the iconic and brilliant detective of Victorian London, created by Scottish writer Arthur Conan Doyle.
On 17 June 1897, against the backdrop of a mysterious and fascinating city, amidst intrigues, betrayals, twists and turns and enigmas, the famous investigator, residing at 221b Baker Street, faces the murder of a man who, just before dying, leaves a series of witty coded messages requesting Holmes' intervention to investigate a danger threatening London: the brilliant detective, together with his trusty Watson, will have to discover who has hatched a possible attack that could cause hundreds of victims, including the Queen, on the very day of her Majesty's Jubilee.
Starring is an extraordinary cast of over twenty artists, including Neri Marcorè (Sherlock Holmes), Paolo Giangrasso (Dr. John H. Watson), and Francesca Ciavaglia (Molly O'Neill), who give life to a captivating narration that combines suspense, irony and adventure, with the direction of Andrea Cecchi, the splendid orchestral soundtrack by Andrea Sardi, the irresistible choreography by Roberto Colombo and Caterina Pini, the majestic sets by Gabriele Moreschi, among plays of light and shadow, and the magnificent costumes by Alba Brunelli and Vanessa Rugi.
Since his debut in Conan Doyle's first novel, the legendary character has been the detective par excellence in the world's collective imagination, a brilliant and keen observer and symbol of the struggle between good and evil. Over time, his fascinating features have profoundly influenced pop culture and inspired countless successful theatrical, television and film adaptations up to 2024, the year of the production of this musical, whose text was supervised and approved by the Italian Sherlockian Association "Uno Studio in Holmes Aps".
