Renovation work on Metro A line: service changes and stations closed due to restyling

from 18 April 2024 to 31 October 2024

In view of the Jubilee 2025, work started on 8 April to complete the transformation of the Metro A line. Specifically, the planned interventions include the replacement of the tracks in the Ottaviano-Battistini section, which date back to the late 1990s, the construction of lifts in the San Giovanni station to allow passengers with reduced mobility to access Metro A and switch from Metro A to Metro C, and the complete restyling of all stations.

Much of the work will take place at night. For this reason, from Sunday to Thursday, the last departure of Metro A trains from the terminus will be at 9 p.m.; from 9 p.m. to the end of the service, passengers can use the shuttle bus service (MA bus line). On Fridays and Saturdays the last departure from the terminus will be at 1.30 a.m as usual. To allow for extraordinary maintenance activities, the Vittorio Emanuele station will be closed from 8 April to 30 June. On days when the station is closed, it is possible to use the nearby Manzoni station, which is about 400 metres away, or Termini station (which can be reached with bus lines 5-14-105-360-590-649).

The restyling of the Spagna, Ottaviano and Cipro stations will also be completed during 2024. In order to carry out the more complex work, the Spagna and Ottaviano stations will be closed for a few days, during the period of lower attendance: for Spagna the planned closure is from 15 July to 3 October, for Ottaviano from 22 July to 9 September. The Cipro station, on the other hand, will remain open with the temporary restriction of some areas.
