A new evocative lighting for Piazza della Repubblica

Piazza della Repubblica
from 24 January 2024 to 31 December 2024

The majestic architecture of the iconic Roman square is dressed in a new permanent light, thanks to a modernisation of the lighting system carried out by Areti with approximately seven hundred thousand euro from Roma Capitale.

The funds, extra fee, come from the service contract that allocates a total of forty million for the adaptation and development of public lighting, ten million for the realisation of 715 illuminated pedestrian crossings, and fifteen million euro from the Jubilee for the illumination of particularly historically relevant sites throughout the city, such as the Baths of Diocletian, and streets, including the area adjacent to Termini Station.

The front and side facades - on Piazza della Repubblica and from Via Nazionale to Via Torino - of the magnificent Umbertine-style porticoed buildings created by Gaetano Koch, are now masterfully illuminated by 10 kw of energy-saving lighting, which corresponds to the annual consumption of fifteen flats with a four-person household.

A necessary and very important intervention that has increased the attractiveness and at the same time the safety of an area of the city such as Piazza della Repubblica, a few steps away from Termini Station, a fundamental junction where hundreds of thousands of Romans and tourists visiting Rome every day land.
