The second edition of the Rome Resistance Feast 2024 confirms itself as a great success this year too with 16 thousand attendances registered at the various events scheduled over the three days, of which six thousand only on the afternoon of 25 April, which sold out. From 23 to 25 April there were over 80 events including lessons, meetings, shows, concerts, screenings and exhibitions, all with free admission, in various spaces of the V and VII Municipality of the city, in many of the emblematic places for the history of Resistance in Rome. In fact, the turnout, higher than the most optimistic forecasts, saw an increase of three thousand more presences compared to the first edition in the Garbatella district - with 13 thousand people - in 2023.
An extraordinary participation therefore, of citizens of all ages, from the Covered Square and the Pagoda Space to Arco di Travertino, to the "Silvio Di Francia" House of Culture and Sport at Villa De Sanctis, from Villa Lazzaroni (in the Theater and in the former Council Room of the Town Hall VII) at the Citizens of the World Library; but also in the other places of the municipalities involved, such as Quadraro, Tor Pignattara, Centocelle, Alessandrino and Pigneto, thanks to the initiatives organized by the networks of cultural and territorial associations Q44 and Ottava Zona – Memoria Est.
The broad program of initiatives has been thought out together with the scholars Davide Conti and Michela Ponzani and with the main Roman associations involved in the history of the Resistance and anti-fascism. Many historians, scholars, journalists and artists attended, including: Corrado Augias, Alessandro Barbero, Liliana Cavani, Lucia Ceci, Ascanio Celestini, Davide Conti, Giovanni De Luna, Stefania Ficacci, Mimmo Franzinelli, Umberto Gentiloni, Isabella Insolvibile , Ezio Mauro, Marco Mondini, Michela Ponzani, Riccardo Sansone, Anthony Santilli, Benedetta Tobagi and many others.
The Resistance Feast, which celebrates the fight for the liberation of Italy from Nazi-fascism, a fundamental chapter of national history, is an event to remember and underline how freedom, equality and democracy are yesterday as today, essential and universal values.
The event was promoted and supported by the Department of Culture of Rome Capital, with the coordination of the Cultural Activities Department and with the collaboration of the V and VII Municipalities, the Library Institution of Rome, the Associations of the House of Memory and History, of the Flamigni Archive, of the Cittadini del Mondo Association and of the networks of cultural and territorial associations Q44 and Ottava Zona – Memoria Est, Media Partner la Repubblica, Rai Radio 1, Rai Cultura, with the collaboration of Rai Teche and Siae; mobility partner Atac partner.
