Rome hosts the international event dedicated to jewellery, which returns for a third edition in the name of culture and beauty with the theme Second Life: art, creativity and tradition interact with innovation and contemporaneity, giving new life to an object that has already lived a life.
Until 15 October, the heart of Rome welcomes a rich program of events - widespread exhibitions, artistic performances, guided tours and talks - featuring international jewellery designers, Roman goldsmiths, jewellery ateliers, galleries, academies, schools and associations.
The Incinque Jewels Award of the Incinque Open Art Monti association is back. The contest, now in its fourth edition, promotes the culture of Contemporary Jewellery. For the occasion, from 13 to 15 October, the Trajan's Markets will host the creations of about 80 international artists, as well as the engaging performance Dialoghi Tattili - RJW '23 Experience. Among the awards are the Teilor, the International, the Special or lifetime achievement, the HOMI FASHION&JEWELS, the I DAVERIO, MISSGiò, Elena Donati, and the new award/consultancy.
Oltre il confine – opere d’arte orafa e pittorica is the exhibition by the artist Rocco Epifanio, which anticipates the event, scheduled from 4 to 6 October at the Casanatense Library.
Rome Jewelry Week officially opens on 6 October with Ri-Trovamenti. The jewel between Rome and Valenza, the exhibition of the Neo Roman School of contemporary jewellery and the Valencian goldsmith masters at the Napoleonic Museum, and the collective exhibition at the Incinque Open Art Monti gallery, starting a continuous dialogue between the arts with resident and temporary designers.
Numerous institutions and places of culture are involved in the initiative with exhibitions, conferences, guided tours and book presentations: from Palazzo Venezia to the Capitoline Museums, from the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia to Palazzo Braschi, from Palazzo Valentini to the University and Noble College of Goldsmiths of the Alma city of Rome.
On 10 October, on the schedule are special guided tours in the rioni of Rome, which involve visitors in discovering the history of the city and the ancient goldsmith's art, with the ateliers opening their doors for an immersive story of creativity, contemporaneity and ancient techniques handed down by generation after generation.
Various schools and associations participate with many proposals, including the European Institute of Design - IED Roma, which hosts the workshop with the Kazakh artist Nurdos Aliaskarov, Accademia Italiana, AGC Associazione Gioiello Contemporaneo, OTP Officine di Talenti Preziosi, AReAM, HTF Hard to Find from Mexico, and MINOSS Jewelry Academy from Korea.
On the programme are numerous exhibitions, including the preview of Il prezioso cammino di Dante – La Divina Commedia nei gioielli di Percossi Papi (Dante's precious journey - The Divine Comedy in the jewels of Percossi Papi), the unreleased works of the Neo Scuola del Gioiello Contemporaneo and the exhibition of the Kazakh artist Nurdos Aliaskarov at the Trajan's Markets, La rondine in fiamme at the Le Sibille atelier, the Capsule Second Life with the collective exhibition at Palazzo Velli.
New to this edition is the Jewelry Illustration, the first contest of the Rome Jewelry Week, which celebrates the creativity and excellence of illustration, offering participants from all over the world the opportunity to present their works.
The RJW event is conceived by the architect Monica Cecchini, director of the project, and organized with the support of the Assessorato alla Cultura of Municipio I - Roma Centro, and with the consultancy of Barbara Brocchi, Bianca Cappello, Claudio Franchi, Laura Astrologo Porché, Giorgia Zoppolato, @missgio_jewelryblog, and Maria Rita Delli Quadri, with the contribution of the artist Emanuele Leonardi.
