Giuseppe Bassi/Sumire Kuribayashi - I will touch you

The double bass player Giuseppe Bassi is at the Casa del Jazz to present the new album I will touch you, co-written with the pianist Sumire Kuribayashi, considered one of the greatest talents on the Japanese jazz scene. The album was born in the period of the pandemic, during which the two musicians were forced to cancel their European tour for the presentation of Atomic Bass, the musical story of a double bass reaching the places destroyed by the tsunami and devastated by radiation for the explosion of the Fukushima nuclear power plant. The disc is the result of the daily direct “The bass and the puppets” that the double bass player produced using the Sumire solo piano bases that came daily from Japan; However, I will Touch You contains only a small part of those music, chosen among the most exciting. The album, which alternates moments of joy with those of melancholy, celebrates a true friendship and a deep affection that no distance can touch.

Giuseppe Bassi, born in 1971, began his concert activity in 1988, performing on the most prestigious stages in the world. During his career he has collaborated with some of the most important jazz musicians at an international level, including Lew Tabackin, John Hicks, Billy Drummond, Greg Osby and has played with the greatest interpreters of Italian jazz such as Enrico Pieranunzi, Stefano Bollani , Fabrizio Bosso, Franco Cerri and Enrico Rava. Sumire Kuribayashi, after graduating from Music College in Saitama, Japan, began her musical career while still studying. In 2014 he released his debut album Toys, which received rave reviews from prestigious jazz magazines and won the 'New Star' award in the 2014 Jazz Life Disc Grand Prix.
