The Colosseum unveils its “inVisible Deposits”

depuis 15 Novembre 2021 à 31 Décembre 2021

A stunning historic-artistic heritage that is preserved in the over one hundred deposits and warehouses that can be found between the Domus Aurea, the Palatine Hill and the Colosseum. The reportage that the Colosseum Archaeological Park has produced from an idea by the archaeologists Federica Rinaldi and Roberta Alteri, curators of the project, aims to describe and enhance this hidden collection of relics and artwork.

In the 4 episodes of the documentary series Depositi inVisibili, on the Facebook page and on the Youtube channel of the PArCo, archaeologists, architects and restorers accompany us through images and interviews to discover the stories and curiosities hidden behind the mobile finds, making them finally visible and accessible to all. The first episode of this story is online from 13 November and focuses on the Domus Aurea and the finds restored and exhibited in the new itinerary opened to the public last June, while Saturday 27 November is the turn of the materials from the “historical” excavations conducted on the Palatine from the 19th century.

The third episode (available from 4 December) is also dedicated to the Palatine and describes the archaeological investigations underway in the Domus Tiberiana and the excavation of the north-eastern slopes of the Palatine under the direction of Professor Clementina Panella of the Sapienza University of Rome. Finally, from Saturday 18 December, the last episode takes us to the heart of the Flavian Amphitheater to relive its two-thousand-year history that continues today with research, cataloging, conservation and maintenance activities.
