Masterpieces of Literature – II Edition 2024

The Masterpieces of Literature festival, organized by the De Sanctis Foundation, in collaboration with Libraries of Rome, this year takes place, for its second edition, in four libraries in Rome: the Marconi Library, the European Library, the Casa delle Letterature and the Trionfale Study Room. During the event, which involves the most representative voices of contemporary fiction, writers meet the public to talk about novels, authors and literary genres, but also themes that have made some books masterpieces of literature.

Among the writers participating in this second edition, we remember: Diego De Silva, who tells The Young Holden by J.D. Salinger; Donatella Di Pietrantonio talks about Il posto (The place), by Nobel Prize winner Annie Ernaux; Walter Siti makes readers rediscover a great forgotten classic: Casa d'Altri (House of others) by Silvio D'Arzo, Valeria Parrella tells the Canti by Giacomo Leopardi, Daria Bignardi, instead, The garden of the Finzi Contini by Giorgio Bassani and Ilaria Gaspari the immense work Marcel Proust's literary novel, In Search of Lost Time.

Among the activities of the De Sanctis Foundation - founded in 2007 on the initiative of the architect Francesco De Sanctis, great-grandson of the literary critic, following the acquisition of a family legacy consisting of the personal archive - together with the Masterpieces of Literature exhibition, there were established with great success and participation: the Literature Lessons, which take place every year in the Auditorium Parco della Musica, the Positano Tells Literary Festival, the De Sanctis Prize, the “Once Upon a Time” Project, in collaboration with AOPI Associazione Ospedali Italian Pediatrics: a review dedicated to children admitted to Italian pediatric hospitals, and many others.
