Eighty shows, 155 performances in 18 different spaces in the capital, and more than 400 artists from five continents enliven the 37th edition of REF2022. On the program are 74 days of music, theater, dance, a new circus, digital arts, and creation for children for the Romaeuropa Festival, which, to date, is one of the most prestigious institutions in Italy and Europe for the dissemination of contemporary art, theater, dance, and music.
On the program, milestones of the 20th century, such as The Threepenny Opera in Barrie Kosky's new staging for the Berliner Ensemble and Einstein on the Beach in the interpretation of the Ictus ensemble with the Collegium Vocale of Gent and Suzanne Vega, along with creations by Emio Greco and Pieter Scholten, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Sasha Waltz, Heiner Goebbels, Caroline Guiela Nguyen, Mihkel Kerem with the New European Ensemble and Marco Quaglia, Milo Rau, Alexander Zeldin, Robyn Orlin, James Thierrée, Katia and Marielle Labèque with Bryce Dessner, Ólafur Arnalds, Radouan Mriziga with Dorothée Munyaneza, Choy Ka Fai, Maud Le Pladec, Jefta van Dinther with the Cullberg, Bruno Beltrão, Paola Prestini, Jan Martens, Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe with Doon Kanda, Noé Soulier, Pianohooligan, Enzo Cosimi, Paola Di Mitri, Marcos Morau with La Veronal, Martina Badiluzzi, Valentino Villa with Monica Piseddu, Renato Sarti, Hanna Hartman, François Sarhan for William Kentridge, Tonino Battista and the PMCE, Ryoji Ikeda, Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol.
Opening Sept. 8 and 9 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone's Cavea with ICK Dans Amsterdam directed by Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten, We Want It All, a tribute to Freddie Mercury's unforgettable I Want It All. On stage, 11 finales from their approximately 60 creations presented between 1995 and 2020.
