Welcoming the New Year inside Rome’s museums

1 January 2023

We can welcome the New Year by immersing ourselves in the beauty of art or by being amazed by the exceptional cultural offer that Rome makes available to its visitors and inhabitants. Once again this year, as part of Roma Capodarte 2023, the program of initiatives that animates cultural venues, theaters and cinemas until evening on January 1, the spaces of the Sistema Musei di Roma Capitale remain open according to their usual hours, with free admission including current exhibitions.

Concerts, guided tours and meetings with personalities from the world of art and culture enrich the experience and accompany visitors to discover the history of the city and the cultural heritage housed in its museums, from prehistory with the Museum of Casal dei Pazzi, to ancient Rome with the Capitoline Museums or the Ara Pacis, for example, to the 19th and 20th centuries with the Museum of the Roman Republic or the Villa Torlonia Museums. Also opening their doors to the public are the Planetarium, with a series of events dedicated to families, the main archaeological areas and the Jewish Museum of Rome, with a guided tour of the museum rooms and the two Synagogues. Online reservations are recommended for all activities on the Culture Roma website starting from 28 December.

Following the success in 2022 of the “Sunday at the Museum” initiative, some of Rome’s most important national museums can also be visited on New Year’s Day. For example, the list includes two of the city’s most iconic sites: the Colosseum and the National Museum of Castel Sant'Angelo.
