from 21 October 2020 to 31 December 2020

ADR - Aeroporti di Roma joins the United Nations Global Compact, confirming the commitment made to integrate sustainability in all the company's activities: from environmental protection to professional training, up to local development.

The result is an important testimony of the work carried out about environmental issues and the intention to continue in this direction, starting with the new Master Plan, which will shortly be submitted to ENAC and aims to design the future "Leonardo da Vinci": a competitive and more environmentally sustainable airport, with minimum land use, even more efficient and safer.

The achievements in the latest years in terms of environmental protection are numerous, as also certified by the World Tourism Organization which - recently and for the first time - awarded Fiumicino airport. Significant results have been achieved about the separate waste collection (the record of almost 90% of the waste produced at the airport) and management of water resources, which compared to 2012 has led to a decrease of 30% for each passenger passed through Fiumicino. Particular attention to the energy sector with the adoption of innovative technological solutions, which have made possible to save almost 80 thousand tons of CO2 in the last 10 years.

Furthermore, to contrast to the Climate Change, Fiumicino and Ciampino airports obtained level 3+ certification, the maximum possible according to the ACA (Airport Carbon Accreditation) scheme. Finally, in 2019, Fiumicino airport reduced the specific consumption of electricity by 50% compared to 2006, joining the Climate Group's EP100 as the first airport in the world.
