from 28 November 2020 to 31 December 2020

At the forefront of measures and protocols for containing the virus, Fiumicino airport launches a new initiative: thanks to the cooperation with Alitalia and Delta Air Lines, it will be the first airport in Europe to activate “COVID-tested” safe air corridors on flights coming from a number of destinations in the United States. The new procedure provides that travelers on “safe” flights arriving from New York JFK, Newark and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta airports will not be subject to the quarantine obligation, having performed at least  a molecular or antigenic test before boarding and repeating, for additional safety, a rapid antigenic test upon arrival at Fiumicino.

The new travel protocols will be progressively offered to passengers starting this December, so as to assess their effectiveness and functionality in view of their possible extension for the next 2021 summer season. The initiative will take advantage of the experience already gained on the “COVID free” Rome-Milan flights as well as the rapid testing facilities in operation. To test the new travel procedure also within the European Union, COVID Tested flights will also be launched between Fiumicino and the two German cities of Munich and Frankfurt.
