The Estate Romana is back, the awaited appointment that will liven up the city for more than four months with an extraordinary program. More than 1,000 events spread throughout Rome, including meetings, cinema, art, music, theatre, guided tours and workshops, organized by Roma Capitale and the main cultural institutions.
The summer solstice, on 21 June, symbolically opens the event with an evening at the Gigi Proietti Globe Theatre Silvano Toti, dedicated to the unforgettable Gigi Proietti. The show is hosted by Flavio Insinna and sees the presence of the artistic director Nicola Piovani performing a short concert before the screening of Luigi Proietti detto Gigi, the documentary by Edoardo Leo.
ROMA CAPITALE SPECIAL APPOINTMENTS
Roma Capitale also proposes some free special events with the participation of personalities from the cultural scene.
Il Campidoglio e le sue storie (26 June), a show by and with Stefano Massini at the Campidoglio;
Tokamak. Reattori e contenti, an anthology of six theatrical performances, between July and September, with Antonio Rezza and Flavia Mastrella at the Teatro Tor Bella Monaca, the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone, Teatro India and the Teatro Biblioteca Quarticciolo, flanked by 6 projections in some of the free city summer arenas;
Museo Pasolini (28-29 July at the Parco degli Acquedotti and 2 November at the Lido di Ostia Theater) by Ascanio Celestini;
Il male dei ricci (10 September), reading show by Fabrizio Gifuni about Pasolini and his art at the Teatro Argentina;
Essere Enea, essere Romolo, essere Numa (7-8-9 October), a cycle of conferences on the three Roman heroes by Maurizio Bettini at the Ara Pacis Auditorium;
Transizioni (14-16 October), the festival dedicated to sustainability scheduled at the Bbilioteca Laurentina.
The Roman summer container also presents the 80 winning projects - theatrical, musical, dance, performance, film screenings, visual arts events and cultural meetings - of the annual public notice Estate Romana 2022 - Riaccendiamo la Città, Insieme. Eighteen of them are linked to the celebration of the Pasolinian Centenary and mainly take place outside the historic centre.
Among these: The Città Foresta project, dedicated to green areas; the contemporary folk music festival of the Mediterranean and Lusophone countries Sete Sois Sete Luas; Dance screen the land - performance, storytelling, theatre and dance at Villa dei Quintili; Viva la Scienza! at the Biblioteca Archipelago; the Videomapping-Pasolini-Corviale; Sempre più Fuori, the season of music, cinema, dance and culture at the Modesto di Veglia Park, Villa De Sanctis Park and the Biblioteca Teatro Quarticciolo; Roma Corsara, itineraries, workshops and urban culture to discover Pasolini's places.
These events flank the rich calendar of the 60 appointments of the 2020-2022 Triennial Notice, dedicated to cinema, music, theatre, dance, children and teenagers, culture and the arts, which began as early as 1 June.

The cinema of Isola del Cinema Isola Mondo at the Tiberina Island , the Arena Garbatella and the many free arenas throughout the city, such as Cinema alle mura e oltre, Cinema Balduina, Cinecorviale Estate, Elsa sotto le stelle, Cinelido - Festival of Italian Cinema, Altra Visione at India and Cinema Arena Parchetto Salario.
The great music of the Celimontana Village, the Jazz Village, the Philharmonic Academy and the Casa del Jazz;
The Theatre, dance, multidisciplinary and performing arts festivals - such as Bande de Femmes, Fuori Programma Festival, FerragOstiAntica, If/invasioni dal futuro_new era, Artmosfera, Attraversamenti Multipli, Anomalie la sperimentazione in periferia, Dominio Pubblico. La Città Agli Under 25;
The theatrical performances, DJ sets, meetings and activities for children in theatres and cultural spaces, including the Teatro India and Spazio Rossellini.
THE GREAT EVENTS OF THE CITY MAIN CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS
The new edition of Letterature – Festival internazionale di Roma by the dell’Istituzione Biblioteche di Roma. at the Palatine Stadium, a program of five evenings with free admission (12, 14, 18, 19 and 21 July) entitled Tempo nostro;
The previews at Casa delle Letterature with André Aciman (20 June), Matei Vișniec (23 June), Lillian Fishman (28 June) and Lea Hager Coen (30 June);
The Libraries and the surrounding green spaces offer a focus on science (Biblioteca Archipelago), open-air cinema (Biblioteca Laurentina), hosting students and smart workers in their study rooms;
The summer arenas of the Fondazione Cinema per Roma at the Park of the Aqueducts, from 20 July to 4 August, with projections of restored masterpieces and meetings, and the floating arena of the Floating Theater, designed by Alice nella città, from 18 August;
The extraordinary event of 24 July that transforms Via Veneto into an open-air cinema with free admission with an audience of 600 spectators for the screening of the restored version of William Wyler's Roman Holiday;
The new season of Caleidoscopio, over 100 screenings at the Ettore Scola open-air theatre, the outdoor space of the Casa del Cinema;
The tenth edition of Cinema al MAXXI, scheduled until 28 July in the museum square.
The summer programme of the Gigi Proietti Globe Theatre Silvano Toti proposes Shakespeare's most famous works until October.
